reception staff welcoming and accommodating-they even called my room minutes after arrival to inquire if everything is okay. Room warm, clean, comfortable beds, fresh crisp linens and towels-great attention to detail. Large screen T.V.
There was an issue with the tub not draining but when I reported it to the front desk they were extremely apologetic and took care of it immediately.
I was hoping to eat at the on-site restaurant but it was not comfortable for a single female as it seemed to be mostly a bar for the locals-I had to get in my car and drive down the street to a Tim Horton’s. I did not try the breakfast room in the a.m.-perhaps this was better.
This hotel is pet-friendly which is a big bonus. … more

We loved our extended weekend at Swans Suite Hotel. It is near everything. The service was personal, friendly and quite helpful. Our Loft Unit was huge. It had an entry area, closets, kitchen and very large and comfotable living room. I suspect the couch came out into a bed, but don’t know for sure.
Above it all was a huge King Bed Loft, open to the lower floor with the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in for some time.
One caveat, the steps are steep. There’s a rail and all, but you sleep upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. I’m not sure how safe it would be for someone who stayed too long at the pub.
That said, I do want to mention that as much as we liked the hotel, The restaurant was a dud for us. It is crowded, so it is popular for many, but our one night’s meal was with overcooked dry fish and beef and the beer wasn’t anything special to us. Either an off night or we were fussy, but there are an incredible number of like pricecd and less expensive opportunities close to the hotel Ask about the Italian restaurant or the pizza place around the corner. ….. more

This hotel should get a 5 for its proxmity to downtown (2-minute walk, at the most, to the attractions and restaurants), the beautiful view from our suite, friendly staff and very well equipped 2-bedroom suite (one of the few hotels we have found to have full length mirrors). I do think we probably had one of the best suites in the hotel, and it was nice to just sit in the living room area and enjoy the view of the harbour. The free Wifi was great and it was really nice to not have to deal with silly passwords or daily reconnections. The complimentary breakfast (delivered to your room for an extra $2) was also nice.
It loses points for the following reasons:
- multiple sources of loud noise that made it impossible to get a good night’s sleep. We heard a screaming fight in the parking lot at 2am, sirens at 3am, seagulls at 4am, garbage trucks at 6am the sounds of planes and ferry-horns by 8am and the constant vibration sounds from the asphalt as the cars drove over the bridge. The actual hotel is very quiet and we felt like we were the only guests in the whole place.
-it was a bit annoying when we found a better deal on the room rate after we booked. When we called the hotel to ask if they would honor the new rate, they said the only way they could do it would be to cancel our original booking and then rebook under the new rate. This was a nuisance and one of those niggling little things that would make us think twice before booking here, again.
Given the risk of bad weather in Victoria and the lack of a pool or other activities in this hotel, one suggestion would be to have a video game console in the unit, which is something that we are now finding in many of the hotels we visit.
Overall, I would have liked to give a higher rating, were it not for the noise issues (bearing in mind that noise from the train line was the same reason that we struggled when giving ratings to places like the Trump International penthouse!). Basically, our review is meant to adivse people that this is a very nice hotel, but a very busy and noisy waterfront. … more

We came here for a weekend, 3 people. In short, it was very pleasant.
The staff was courteous and helpful, the room itself was clean. We also got a 50% discount off dinner or breakfast at the hotel restaurant. We did breakfast, and seriously, it was good!
My only issue was the mattress was too soft for someone with a bad back. My guess is all rooms have the same type of mattress but if you share this physical condition, try and see if you can get a firmer mattress.
And ask for that 50% discount coupon if they didn’t offer it. …. more

We went to Victoria for a short 3 days trip and stayed here for our first night.
We brought our dog with us and the pet fee was $35 (it would be nice if they have mentioned the price on their website). When we booked the hotel, we indicated we were bringing the dog with us and they got the message since they prepared a map for dog walks, some treats and poop bags, but no signs of food/water bowl nor the bed that they mentioned on the website (basically provided 2/4 of what was listed). Thought it would be nice for hotels to actually provide what they promote as part of their service.
Other than that, service was good. Since our dog kept going under the bed and it was very dusty down there, we asked house keeping to come up and help clean it. They came up right away so we really appreciate that.
We stayed in their Studio room and it was a very decent size. We had a corner room so there was tonnes of sunlight which we loved. The kitchen was fully stocked. The washroom is nicely renovated, but the lighting are too dimmed and the shower didn’t look too clean (especially the drain). The bed was not the most comfy bed (but it wasn’t bad). The bed is actually a pull down bed, so you can imagine that its not as comfy as the big soft and comfy beds in some hotels.
But for the price we paid for the night (during Christmas) we thought it was a pretty good deal. …. more
