Strathcona Hotel Victoria

Appearance was great, very clean. Beds were comfy, but not the softest. Pillows were my fav part of the stay. I love my pillows, and the more pillows the merrier. Would recommend it, especially for downtown.

If you really want to stay right in the heart of the city, this is the place. The hotel has the greatest selection of bars/restaurants in the whole city – right in the ground floor. But everything else is right nearby. Stay here and you are walking distance of everything. Front desk staff are friendly and very efficient.

Obviously, at $70 a night, you shouldn’t expect the lap of luxury.
But that being said, the Strathcona is a very good hotel for the price.

Some Pros and Cons that may or may not be important to you in your decision making:

Pros:
-hotel is very charming, and the rooms are basic but clean
-staff very helpful and friendly
-good continental breakfast (bagels, waffles, toast, cereal, muffins, tea, coffee, fruit, yogurt)
-excellent location

Cons:
-bed unsupportive and uncomfortable (could be more of an issue if you are a larger person)
-no desk in the room
-can hear people in the hall, and to a lesser extent, in their rooms.
one my first night, there were so many people coming back to their rooms late at night that I had to wear earplugs. On the second night, this wasn’t an issue

Sandman Hotel Victoria

We hosted a meeting at the Sandman Hotel in Victoria and were very impressed with the staff and their ability to accommodate us and last minute changes.

The facility had wifi available, the projector and screen were ready and waiting for us, water service was well situated and the layout was done to our specifications.

The staff were great!! The room was fairly clean. The bathtub didn’t drain while you showered. The bath towels are super tiny and we are not that tall. This hotel is in a location where you really shouldn’t go out for a walk. We drove one block to get snacks and realized that was not a smart decision. The neighborhood was super sketchy. But like I said the staff are awesome

Royal Scot Hotel Victoria

Quiet comfortable rooms, clean, professional, and the location was excellent. We walked to dinner each evening, walked down to the waterfront for New Year’s Eve fireworks, short walk to shops. We had a one bedroom suite that was exactly as advertised. The front desk was very friendly and competent. My go to place in Victoria now.

This is an awesome hotel. The staff are very very helpful and nice. They have a shuttle van that will drive you to get your groceries, go downtown go just about anywhere you want. They do have a mile radius to follow. This hotel is very close to the water. Walking distance to the Empress. The legislature grounds are almost next door. My friend and I went in Sept. My husband and I are going to Victoria for a wedding in June and have already booked our rooms. You should get a room with the kitchen it will save big time $$ in restaurant food. Beautiful place. My friend and I are going back in Sept again. You must stay at the Royal Scot.

We stayed in this facility on our Cosmos Coach Tour of The Rockies, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The facility had lift access, a good restaurant, and the service was good. There was a strong hint of Scottish Culture.

Red Lion Inn Victoria

We arrived at this hotel July 21, 2016. Nice looking from the outside, but that’s where it ended. Room was a terrible left over from the 80’s and falling apart. We went out for the evening and returned at 12:30am to a room that was about 84 degrees. AC had stopped working. Went to the front desk clerk who could do nothing. The hotel was full and room couldn’t be swapped out. Asked for a spare AC unit and I would swap it myself. Didn’t have one and told me they break down all the time. There was a very large window (4′ x4′ approx.) in the room that opened all the way to help alleviate the heat. Parents with small children, be aware for the safety of your children. Inquisitive children could easily fall out. I’ve never seen a window in a hotel on a upper floor open more than about 3 inches, there secured with a blocking device. Serious safety issue! Finally climbed into bed at about 1:30am and slept till about 5:30am when a garbage truck drove down the lane way beside the hotel and woke the whole family up. Tried to get back to sleep, good luck.
Spoke to the day desk clerk in the morning who referred us to there General Manager, Richmond who wasn`t there. This was a one night stay for us, so we conversed with him by phone at a later time. Richmond would do nothing more than a 10% discount. That`s a $17.50 reduction for a room that was suppose to have AC that impacted our next day due to lack of sleep. This was a 7 day vacation for us. A 10% reduction shows you how little they care about you and your family. The cost of this room was $175 plus tax. I expected a better room and certainly better service for that kind of money

A quick overnight stop over. For a low priced hotel the room was adequate, bathroom was clean. Lacking some niceties I would have expected, even at a bargain price, glasses would have been better than paper cups, coffee supplies were sparse and there was no kettle to boil water to make tea. I would stay there again because it is cheap and convenient, but not for more than 1 or 2 nights.

Quality Inn Downtown Victoria

While not a fancy hotel the Quality Inn is a good reasonably priced hotel. Clean and quiet and in a very convenient place for downtown Victoria. No need for a car as most of the downtown attractions are within easy walking distance. They are doing renovations on some of the rooms which is a good thing, nothing bad just due for an upgrade.

The room was a good size with everything one would need ,
The staff friendly and helpful , food excellent both in taste and value
Location awesome right in the middle of downtown walk everywhere
Can’t saw enough about it so I’ll stop.
Go find out for yourself. Won’t be disappointed.

Oak Bay Beach Hotel

I booked a last minute weekend getaway to Victoria on a whim and contemplated which hotel I was going to stay at. Like many others, I initially thought I wanted to stay at the Fairmont that I had heard so much about, until my boss recommended I look into Oak Bay Beach. I was hesitant at first – it seemed to be a bit “off the grid” from downtown Victoria. But don’t let that sway your decision… it’s a quick 10 minute drive! The Oak Bay area is gorgeous – you’re RIGHT on the water, a quick walk to the marina, and in a beautiful neighbourhood (I ended up driving around for half an hour just looking at houses in the neighbourhood for fun!)

The hotel itself is paradise. It has a grand feeling to it the moment you walk in, and the staff is ridiculously welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable (I had a “residential view” room… I couldn’t justify the $125+ to upgrade to an ocean view). Room service is 24/7 and a good selection of food at any hour. The Snug pub is cute (great pub food and well-priced drinks), the Dining Room is nice/has a good menu as well. There’s a theatre on the property which looked like it would have been a fun time, but they weren’t playing any films at the time I was staying.

The amenities are AMAZING at this hotel. There is a (very well heated) pool and two hot tubs on the edge of the water. Sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine… what else could you ask for?! I’d also recommend treating yourself to a spa treatment… I went for the half hour facial and I hadn’t felt that relaxed or refreshed in weeks.

Overall, I don’t have enough great things to say about this hotel and the people who work here. No disrespect to the Fairmont (I love Fairmont hotels, too) – but I’m so glad I ended up booking Oak Bay and that I now have a “go to” home away from home when I make future weekend getaways to Victoria.

Brentwood Bay Resort Victoria

Such a great resort the staff are all so friendly .
My gf and I won a free night at this resort I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway.
Had some tasty beer in the pub and soaked my night away in the tub

The location of Brentwood Bay Spa and Resort is perfect. Located right at the Ferry crossing and marina so there is lots of watch and do. The building is beautifully designed in a modern northwest lodge style and it is just gorgeous. The rooms are impeccably designed with wonderful color palettes and wood. Super comfy bed and bedding. Excellent luxurious bathroom with Jacuzzi tub. Our room had a balcony which made our whole experience absolutely perfect. You won’t regret staying here!

This actually took me by surprise. Room faces the marina on the ocean. Quick walk from the MillBay ferry. The room has a gas fireplace, jacuzzi , spa bathroom, and coffee pot and kettle. Watch a huge to from 2 comfy leather recliners. Lots of lighting and a huge patio with chairs and tables. Didn’t try the spa services but seemed to be priced as per Market. Will do that next time! Simply loved the room and area. Has a Pub and a formal dining room. Had the pizza and a salad. Both were very good. Get the opportunity try it out!

The Brentwood Bay Resort stands out in my memory as one of the best hotels I have stayed at. The entire hotel is oriented so every room has a waterfront view, and the rooms themselves are well-equipped and very relaxing. When we arrived we were offered a cup of hot cider as we checked in, and then personally led to our room. We ate most of our meals at the hotel pub, and every item was delicious. The cocktails were fantastic as well! We took the opportunity to go for a late night swim, and the pool was heated and lit despite the freezing temperatures. There were even still cups and water poolside. The best part about our stay was the absolute silence when outside. There’s no traffic, no noise besides the water and wind. The best place for a peaceful getaway!

Accent Inn Victoria

This place was a great place for us to stay while my mom was having surgery. The staff were super friendly. They hotel is clean and the breakfast was great too. A good place to stay that doesn’t break the bank. A shout out to Laurie at the front desk, she is so friendly and helpful!

My son & I needed a reasonable hotel for a quick overnight stay. I read all the reviews and decided to take a chance . For the price this is a great place. Clean, easy to find, good parking, quiet, excellent service from check in to check out.I was greeted with a huge smile by the housekeeping service in the morning as i left. The room had everything we needed, no frills but clean, comfortable. I loved the wood flooring, much cleaner than carpet. Nice addition to have Bin4 Burger place right there, very busy spot on a Sat night so if you are planning on eating there, make a reservation if you can.

Strathcona Hotel Victoria

I would say that the best part about this hotel was its location-right in the middle of downtown. Other than that, I would probably never stay there again. Our room was pretty gross, as it seemed like it had never been cleaned. During your stay, nobody will clean your room. They will give you some new water glasses, but that’s about it! I would not recommend staying here during breaks (Spring break, summer vacation, etc) because it will be extremely LOUD. The walls are paper thin and we could hear our neighbors until 3 am-it would be 100 times worse when there are a ton of college kids partying it up in the bar attached to the hotel. This place is fine as long as you don’t spend too much time in the hotel!

We stayed two nights at this centrally located older hotel. The front desk staff are very efficient and friendly. The daily continental breakfast which is included in the price of the room, is a great way to start your day. They serve waffles, muffins, toast, cereal, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruits, juice and tea/coffee. We stayed on the 5th floor, our room was a bit worn. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The TV is a nice size, and we enjoyed the complimentary herbal teas.

Sandman Hotel Victoria

Stayed here our two nights in Victoria. Easy to get to. Good value for the price. Ample parking. Pub on site. Laundry on site. Large clean room. 5 minutes from downtown. What you expect from a chain…

Pros:
– extremely well priced
– fantastic sandman service
– the usual fantastic shark below below
– functional gym in the basement to get the sweat going
– super comfy bed
– fully stocked vending machines on every level
– coin washers and dryers in the basement

Cons:
– no bar fridge or microwaves in the queen rooms

Nice central location with a restaurant/pub on site. The shark club was good pub type food. The inly thing I think is a little crazy I’d the hotel fitness center isn’t open until 8am. I’ve never stayed in a hotel that doesn’t have 24 hour or at least 5-6am gym times. I was here on business and 8am is not a good time to start a daily workout for working folks!!
