Strathcona Hotel Victoria

I would say that the best part about this hotel was its location-right in the middle of downtown. Other than that, I would probably never stay there again. Our room was pretty gross, as it seemed like it had never been cleaned. During your stay, nobody will clean your room. They will give you some new water glasses, but that’s about it! I would not recommend staying here during breaks (Spring break, summer vacation, etc) because it will be extremely LOUD. The walls are paper thin and we could hear our neighbors until 3 am-it would be 100 times worse when there are a ton of college kids partying it up in the bar attached to the hotel. This place is fine as long as you don’t spend too much time in the hotel!

We stayed two nights at this centrally located older hotel. The front desk staff are very efficient and friendly. The daily continental breakfast which is included in the price of the room, is a great way to start your day. They serve waffles, muffins, toast, cereal, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruits, juice and tea/coffee. We stayed on the 5th floor, our room was a bit worn. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The TV is a nice size, and we enjoyed the complimentary herbal teas.

Sandman Hotel Victoria

Stayed here our two nights in Victoria. Easy to get to. Good value for the price. Ample parking. Pub on site. Laundry on site. Large clean room. 5 minutes from downtown. What you expect from a chain…

Pros:
– extremely well priced
– fantastic sandman service
– the usual fantastic shark below below
– functional gym in the basement to get the sweat going
– super comfy bed
– fully stocked vending machines on every level
– coin washers and dryers in the basement

Cons:
– no bar fridge or microwaves in the queen rooms

Nice central location with a restaurant/pub on site. The shark club was good pub type food. The inly thing I think is a little crazy I’d the hotel fitness center isn’t open until 8am. I’ve never stayed in a hotel that doesn’t have 24 hour or at least 5-6am gym times. I was here on business and 8am is not a good time to start a daily workout for working folks!!

This is not a luxury one, but nice to stay. It is little off from downtown Victoria. You need a car or taxi to get to downtown. Outside looks old and building is shared with Liquor store, but inside is fairly clean.

I have stayed at this location several times and it has always been clean and consistent. We go over every april for an annual soccer tournament and its our first choice. It is a little outside of downtown so you require a car or to use public transit in order to get there.

Only one outlet free to plug anything into, 2 out of the 4 lights not working, one bed broken completely (sit on one side, the other side flips up into the air), streaks of who knows what (I think I can probably guess) running down the walls behind the bed, toilet seat broken (keeps slipping off the bowl), moldy shower, no glass glasses (had to drink wine out of a paper cup). I wonder if it’s possible to give a 0 out of 5 stars on google. The upgraded room and the restaurant voucher (which I had to demand receipt of) just don’t make up for the disastrous establishment they call a hotel.

Quality Inn Downtown Victoria

The weather hasn’t cooperated this visit so, glad we have such a comfortable room with a kitchenette. Hotel staff very accommodating. Unfortunately, we don’t have use of the steam room as it is being renovated. Website could have mentioned that. All in all, this is a good place to spend 15 nights. One small point: the chairs in the kitchenette are very noisy to moves the tile floor unless you pick them up. I will suggest they attach some ‘sliders’ on the chair legs.

The rooms have a decent amount of space. My two year old and i enjoyed the Jacuzzi tub in our room since their is no hot tub in the pool room. The water was a bit to chilly for her. The staff is very friendly and attentive. My daughter accidentally broke a glass and within minutes the front desk clerk attendant to the shards. We would defiantly stay again. Amazing restaurants are walking distance. And they offer pet friendly rooms

Second stay at the Inn. Good central location for a reasonable city centre price. Lots of amenities – free Wi-Fi, fridge, large TV, microwave, writing desk, lots of toy plug-in outlets, iron and board, coffee maker, free daily paper in the lobby, comfortable firm beds, good linens, clock radio, friendly staff, 25% food discount in the restaurant, recently renovated decent size room. We had an inner courtyard facing room and it was quiet.

the hotel facilities will blow you away—ocean views everywhere….imagine a hot mineral pool soak in the middle of winter with a view to die for…..eating in a posh, elegant dining room with the same views…..staff was impressive—our breakfast server remembered my order from the previous morning, room service was was perfect for our last night because we were just lazy ….our beautiful room came with a surprise kitchenette…..parking was free, as was the wifi—don’t see that in high-end hotels. Can’t wait to visit again.

This place is a gem. I’m from here but felt like I was on a tropical vacation sitting in that oceanfront mineral pool! Hotel amenities make this place worth every penny (except that a poolside glass of wine was whopping $15. Yikes). Great neighbourhood with lots of great restaurants and shops nearby.

Highly recommend. Luxury, relaxation and beauty.
Also: I went with a friend but noticed that the hotel and even mineral pool were family friendly. But at one point families were asked to “keep it down” due to noise disrupting massages nearby.Spent two nights at this lovely spot while attending a family wedding, and enjoyed every minute. With four adults, front desk staff appropriately suggested a suite and an adjoining room. Comfortable, roomy, quiet, opulent.
The reinvented hotel has everything you would expect, from cucumber water in the lobby, to mineral baths under the stars, to attentive and courteous staff members, to free underground parking. Meals at The Snug, and Kate’s were delicious.

Oak Bay is a cool location, too, with wonderful scenic walks or drives in the neighbouring streets.

The rooms are cozy and private. The bathroom floors are heated and the biffy is separate fro, the main bathroom, which my husband loved.Nice touch with a cookie in the room free of charge. The front end staff went over and above . The only disappointment was the room service menu was completely lacking. there is a sushi menu but upon wording form that menu we were told that the chef didn’t show up and there for sushi wan’t an option. The sampler platter was great and the calamari crisp. We would have gone to the restraint but were told that it had been booked for a couple months and so we needed to dine else where, which was part of the reason why we booked there as my husband is a bit of a foodie. We will go back and I would still recommend this resort … Just happened to be a staff issue

Large comfortable bed room with outside seating area. Great amenities. Nice bathrooms with large Jacuzzi tub. Very quite room. Nice cozy Gas Fire place.
Great spaces beds and duvets including pillows. Would stay here again.

They sold too many groupons for their restaurant. Reservations at reasonable times are very difficult to get. They are booked up a week in advance and we could not get a reservation before 8 pm even with 7 days advance notice. We have not been for our dinner yet.

Accent Inn Victoria

Stayed four nights here recently, everything was very nice. The breakfast was plentiful with good options including boiled eggs and pancakes. Staff really friendly and helpful. Free shuttle ride downtown was nice. And the rubber ducky on the tub was really cute.

Location: Uptown and great location for restaurants and shopping mall if you have a vehicle. About 10 mins drive to downtown Victoria.

Room: Very noisy if they place you facing the main street. Very basic but clean. Plumbing could be loud at times. Thin walls. AC cuts in & out every 5 mins – very annoying.

Staff: Ana was the person who checked us in. She’s very friendly and was going to accommodate me with my request of a quiet room but was stopped by another older staff, who told me they were completely sold out on that day. I tried to explain to them that we are very light sleepers and would like a room on higher floor, away from the main road, elevator and ice machine but that older lady would not budge. Ana assured me my room was “very quiet”. It was room 201 – across from the elevator and right next to a pop machine. The vibration of the machine can be heard through the wall and the room smelled funny. There’s no way we could spend 2 nights in that room. As I couldn’t get the staff to accommodate me, I asked my husband to do it. Somehow, when he asked for it, the rooms were suddenly not completely sold out anymore. We got another room down the hall facing the back.

Parking: Complimentary and more than enough.

Breakfast: Continental with a lot of choices. It was very good.

I gave this hotel a try based on the positive reviews of others. However, I don’t find the staff as accommodating as what other people described. I don’t think the staff treat all their guests the same way.

I was tired and looking for a hotel to hide away for a few days. I tried everywhere in Victoria. My last hope was Accent Inns. The problem I was having is I do not use Credit Cards and no one would take debit with a deposit. I walked in the doors at the accent inn and was immediately greeted by Patti, she saw how tired I was said no worries she would make an exception for me. She had a room but upgraded me to a mini suite (she guaranteed the room under her name, so if anything was damaged she was accountable) she went above and beyond for me, I am so grateful for all that she has done!! I had two night of pure relaxation!! The staff, rooms and location is absolutely fantastic!!! I would highly recommend the Accent Inns. It is very evident that Customer Service is definitely top priority for them!! Great Job best hotel ever!!

Brentwood Bay Resort Victoria

I stayed here in December with my four-year-old daughter so we could see Butchart Gardens. The room was lovely, with a very nice view of the pool and marina, and it had a huge bathtub. There were two events going on at the resort so we couldn’t eat in the dining room but we were given a room service credit, which was nice. Food was good. Not amazing, but good. We used the pool and hot tub. The pool is heated, but it was still pretty darn cold at this time of year. The hot tub was very nice, but there is no protective grate or anything over the light and I scalded my knee on it.

This lodge is located on the water in Brentwood Bay.The receptionist offered us sparkling wine at check in, The rooms are accessed from a covered outside walkway, there are stairs & an elevator. The rooms are very comfortable with a king bed and an electric fireplace in the corner. The furniture fits in with the relaxed theme, the rooms overlooked the bay & there is a good sized deck to enjoy the outdoors. The bathroom had shutters that allowed one to talk to their mate while soaking in the tub. The showers had a stone surface on the floor. The towels and linens were all good quality. There was an outside pool and hot tub area, this would have been nice to enjoy if we had more time. There was a spa off the lobby, the hotel had a restaurant off the lobby as well as a pub in the complex. This hotel would be a great place to kick back & relax a few days

It would be hard to say anything bad about the Brentwood Bay Resort & Spa. The photos don’t do it justice – it’s in a spectacular location with great food, a beautiful facility, and friendly staff. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

If I had to find some downsides, I would say that it is a bit far if you are hoping to spend time in Victoria during your stay.

The Brentwood Bay has wonderfully warm, inviting rooms, with plenty of tasteful and beautiful wood. The floor-to-ceiling windows give a beautiful view of the water, and open up either to balconies or terraces on the main floor.
We have stayed there roughly once a year since they opened, and always look forward to it.
