Royal Scot Hotel Victoria

The Royal Scot hotel is one block from the Provincial Parliament building. The location is walkable to many tourist attractions and activities; such as Fisherman’s Wharf, Museum, Shopping, Eating and the list goes on. The Royal Scot Hotel and Suites offers full kitchens and the grocery story is about seven walkable blocks away. Hope to one day return to Victoria. Style is definitely 1960’s décor but quality furniture. Staff were very helpful and the hotel was very clean.

No wonder my family keeps coming back. This is a top notch hotel. Very clean. Prices are very good and the location is the best. The restaurant has amazing food for the price. I recommend this hotel and will be back

This is a great hotel!!! We were recommended by friends and were not disappointed. They up graded us to a suite..it was lovely, comfortable, quiet and clean. We walked everywhere, this hotel is perfectly located in downtown Victoria. We will definitely go back!!!!

This is not a luxury one, but nice to stay. It is little off from downtown Victoria. You need a car or taxi to get to downtown. Outside looks old and building is shared with Liquor store, but inside is fairly clean.

I have stayed at this location several times and it has always been clean and consistent. We go over every april for an annual soccer tournament and its our first choice. It is a little outside of downtown so you require a car or to use public transit in order to get there.

Only one outlet free to plug anything into, 2 out of the 4 lights not working, one bed broken completely (sit on one side, the other side flips up into the air), streaks of who knows what (I think I can probably guess) running down the walls behind the bed, toilet seat broken (keeps slipping off the bowl), moldy shower, no glass glasses (had to drink wine out of a paper cup). I wonder if it’s possible to give a 0 out of 5 stars on google. The upgraded room and the restaurant voucher (which I had to demand receipt of) just don’t make up for the disastrous establishment they call a hotel.

Regent Hotel Victoria

Great apartment, friendly helpful staff, walking distance to everything from shopping to wonderful restaurants and pubs. The waterfront view is excellent with Parliament buildings lit up at night and kayaks and float planes landing in the morning.

We stayed for 2 nights in a 1 bedroom suite on 5th floor overlooking the harbor. Very nice, spacious, clean and awesome views. Full kitchen if you need but we just used the coffee pot. Complementary breakfast is OK nothing special , basic cereals, breads, omellete and breakfast meat. Hotel is in walking distance to everything and very central. Staff were very helpful in recommendations of eating, shopping etc. We used underground parking which was very handy. Yes I would stay again

This is our second year in the hotel. Enjoyed it very much.. Will be returning next year. View is awesome. Close to all services. Always working on upgrades i.e new windows, new carpet. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.

James Bay Inn Hotel

We stayed at James Bay Inn for 3 nights. The rooms are small but we like the atmosphere of a historical hotel. The room was very clean and the service at the front desk was great. This is our second stay here and we will definitely be back.

Once upon a time I lived and worked about two blocks from the JBI. I’ve eaten in their restaurant and their pub countless times but have never been a guest of the hotel. Flash forward to present day — I live in another city and recently went back for a weekend with my husband. Perfect opportunity to complete my JBI experience! If you want to get a sense of Victoria in its early years this is the place to stay. The hotel has been lovingly maintained. No elevator but not an issue for us. Our room was on the second floor just above the entrance so it had a lovely view of quiet Government Street. Oh, how I’ve missed the sound of those horse-drawn carriages! Our room was a toasty warm haven during a cold snap and it had huge windows to let in lots of light. Newly renovated with a massive washroom and a comfy, comfy bed. Friendly staff. We had breakfast both mornings in the restaurant and the food is just as good and reasonably priced as it was when I was part of the neighbourhood. And James Bay is one of my favourite Victoria neighbourhoods with its heritage charm, safe streets, and close proximity to downtown. Loved that the parking was free and we could walk to everything we wanted to do. Whenever we go back to Victoria, we’ll definitely stay at the JBI.

Embassy Inn Victoria

We arrived on the Victoria Clipper and chose this hotel because it was one of the few who provided a breakfast that was included in our package. We arrived in the middle of December and it just happened to snow that day which I hear is a rarity. We were able to schlep our suitcases on foot to the hotel from the dock. When we arrived around 11 am we were told our room wasn’t ready but he could put us on the 3rd floor instead of the 4th floor that we were assigned. We agreed because we had some exploring to do.

We walked into our room and what a surprise. We got a corner suite with 2 windows, over looking the Parliment buildings and a full kitchen. We were happy.

It appears that they had free parking but being we were on foot I cannot confirm that. Breakfast was pretty good and we were full.

Great experience. Walking distance to the inner harbor.

This little Inn is located right next to the Parliament buildings downtown Victoria. They call it “James Bay area” but it’s so close to the museum, wax museum and literally minutes from the downtown area of Government Street.

The Inn itself is older, but they were doing renovations while we were there including new furniture. The room we had on the 3rd floor was your typical room in a downtown city location, small with a queen size bed (not very comfy), chair, TV, mini fridge and single keurig coffee maker. I was a little disappointed not to have a kettle and tea as I don’t drink coffee but that’s just my preference.

The room was very clean, which the housekeeping staff should be very proud of themselves!! Thank you!!

The breakfast was more than just your typical continental breaky that included waffles, scrambled eggs, ham & tater tots. Nice variety and was very good!!

Our room overlooked the parking lot as our room was above the entrance to the Inn so no view, but nice to have a little balcony to get some fresh air.

I would recommend this Inn for the location. If you are going to be in and out touring the city, then stay here, if not, find something a little more luxurious as this is pretty basic 🙂

We also did a 2 hour walking food tour which was great to get some interesting history of the city and taste a variety of local restaurants/shops.

DoubleTree Hotel & Suites Victoria

Great location for exploring Victoria harbour. Close to the Royal Victoria Museum, good restaurants & downtown. Staff very friendly & helpful. Very clean. Room was a little cramped. One complaint was the cord for the hair dryer was far too short to use practically. We ate at Bartholomew s the pub in the hotel & loved the ambiance , the food & the service. If we stay here again would ask for a larger room.

I think this hotel was renovated from another purpose (there are a few quirky juts, etc. in the rooms) but they did a great job. The room was a good size, with good linens, clean and comfortable furnishings, and a decent bathroom. The valet service was excellent. We never had to wait for our car and a couple of times, when we were going to be right back out, the valet left it near the door for us to access it. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that by 9 a.m. when I had my morning shower, the temperature had to be turned all the way to hot to get a warm shower.
My partner had a business trip and our son and I accompanied him as well since we were also on vacation at the time. I was very happy with the service from the moment we pulled up! Sometimes as a new parent you wonder how baby friendly places are or if babies are very welcome. We were warmly welcomed, upgraded to be more comfortable as a family and when we reached our room, found it was very safe and of course very clean for our 9 month old baby to crawl and explore as much as he wanted. He may have liked the hotel room the most! The beds were so comfy too! I would absolutely stay there again if given the opportunity!

Comfort Inn Victoria

Was coming from Vancouver to take a friend to a Doctor appointment .She decided with the lousy weather we have been having, to postpone it. Called hotel and told them it was not a good idea to travel. Staff was very understanding. Will book with them in the future once the weather clears up.

Older property is located on a main route with easy access to local shopping and restaurants as well as a quick trip to downtown Victoria. Large room was quiet and comfortable but a little dated. Free breakfast with lots of choices was quite enjoyable except the breakfast room was very messy and could be maintained better. Pub next door could be reached from the second floor and was very handy for supper.

Chateau Victoria Hotel & Suites

The renovations on the 16th floor are spectacular! I have no doubt it will be extremely attractive and successful to the Corporate market and couples/ families, specifically with the US currency at such an advantage. I consider The Chateau Victoria the most convenient and beautiful property in YYJ. Staff and service are friendly and commendable.

The hotel is conveniently located. It is a bit outdated in decor, but the rooms are spacious. However, the central ventilation system is so loud that it kept me awake! Likewise as in many north american hotels the ice machine too has sounds that travel far! Even though the ice machine was enclosed and in fact there was also a proper door, the vibrations were heard quite far. The staff is friendly. The breakfast was underwhelming, but nicely served. One would have hoped for a real espresso to be available.

So if your heading to Victoria this is the place to stay….the rooms are great and beds comfortable.
It’s within walking distance to the downtown core with all the shopping experience you’ll need.
The hotel has a great staff and keep the hotel in tip top shape.
You can’t go wrong with this choice.

Swans Hotel Victoria

Large space with nice kitchenette and roomy bathroom. Right on edge of Chinatown. About 7-8 block walk to/from ferry. Easy to get to harbor and Parliament, first class museum, shops, restaurants.
Wonderful spacious and immaculate suite. Everything perfect. Restaurant very good also. Best place we have stayed in Victoria for reasonable price. Easy walking to all of downtown area.

Our room was large with high ceiling and large bathroom. We had a king sized bed with really nice pillows! (Why don’t more hotels pay attention to pillows? It is important for their guests’ sleeping comfort.)There were several pieces of original art on the walls and the kitchen was fully equipped with a full sized stove and fridge. There was Original art on the walls and the room was spotlessly clean.

Best hotel for a family. Separate rooms are ideal for older children. Quiet rooms.

Royal Scot Hotel Victoria

We’ve been spending a three- or four-day weekend at the Royal Scot every winter for the past several years. We usually get their one bedroom suite.

The furnishings and style never changes. However the rooms and the public areas of the hotel always are kept clean and also fresh looking. Clearly, the rooms get painted often, and the furniture is changed before wear shows in any sort of serious way. Janitorial and housekeeping services are unobtrusive.

The Royal Scot is anything but trendy. Frankly, it’s old fashioned and not really that quaint. However, that said, they do everything right to make you feel comfortable and at ease. The kitchens are very well equipped, to the extent that you can walk the six blocks each way to the nearest fully stocked supermarket, and then do as much of your own cooking as you may wish. (I understand Thrifty Supermarket now has a delivery service to the hotel.)

If you’re arriving on either of the U.S. ferries (the Victoria Clipper or the Coho), it’s only a three minute walk from the dock, over flat ground. The “downtown” area with shops and restaurants begins less than a ten minute walk from the hotel’s front door. In short, the location is as good as it gets. The restaurant off the hotel lobby offers good breakfasts if you don’t care to cook. (We haven’t tried if for lunch or dinner.) If the weather is very bad, the Hotel Grand Pacific has a really good dining room, and it’s directly across the street from the Royal Scot.

All considered, it’s a good choice for a quiet weekend in Victoria.
