My husband and I travel constantly and are frequently quite jet-lagged. We wanted to book a vacation not far from home where we could relax somewhere quite. The Royal Scott was perfect! The hotel is quiet and small, allowing for excellent service and high-standards of cleanliness. The hotel gave us a free up-grade to our suite due to extra bookings (for some festival) and our suite couldn’t have been nicer, it had a full kitchen and a deck that overlooked the tree-lined entrance. They had even included a welcome basket of snacks and drinks. The concierge was first-class, even arranging a horse-drawn carriage to pick us up outside for a tour of the city. My only dislike was that the decor was somewhat dated and not very attractive, but that is a matter of personal taste. Also, I do NOT recommend eating in the hotel restaurant, the food was a disaster, watery soup, soggy sandwiches, and the choices were very limited (although I believe the hotel does not run the concessions in the restaurant, I believe it is under contract without outside vendors). Other than that, it was a fantastic place to stay.
