James Bay Inn Hotel

Spent 8 nights with a buddy, who, when he mentioned that his room was noisy from the housekeeping room, they immediately gave him a great upstairs room and made me jealous because it was bigger than mine. Steve and the rest of the front desk staff were wonderful, and the area around there was fun to walk around in. You could also walk to the amazing Provincial Museum and downtown from there. The coffee in the place was weak, though–my only complaint. Old building, no elevator. Felt nice to be there. Housekeeping bounced from great to not so good on different days.

I loved this little hotel. It’s location is just south of the main business district; the location is on a “main” street but the surroundings are residential in its immediate area. I found it very convenient. The lobby was very warmly appointed, the rooms clean and the bed excellent. Staff was more than helpful. The on-site restaurant was more than reasonably-priced and had GREAT food and good service. If I had a complaint, it was that the rooms were a bit cold – but – when I inquired if the heat could be turned up I was offered a portable heater to make it “better.” That solved my problem. (The rooms do not have individually-controlled heating.) Note: this is an older hotel and does not have an abundance of amenities, but was an EXCELLENT value for the price.
