Physically, this is a lovely old home with lots of charm and nice touches…seemingly the perfect sort of B&B to stay at. It’s in a great location, close to the central area of Victoria, but just far enough away so it’s very quiet. It was very clean and tidy. The caretaker/manager, however, while very nice and polite, really keeps to himself aside from directly responding to specific questions. Clearly he does not want to become engaged in conversation. I don’t travel to make new best friends, but it is fun to chat with locals to get their opinion about things, etc. Also, I was underwhelmed with the breakfast…lack of variety, along with specific seating times where it appeared that we were expected to be finished with breakfast and on our way within half an hour. (Seating times were 8:00, 8:30, 9:00) It felt a bit rushed, especially when on vacation and first thing in the morning. The fruit salad and omelet were very good, but there were no bread choices with the egg dish. I like having some kind of bread and, being that I was in Victoria, had hoped for scones or something. I requested a muffin, which was an option with the non-egg breakfast, and it seemed like it was a packaged one heated up in the microwave. For people who want a nice place to stay and don’t care about interacting with the proprietor, this could be a great place to stay. If you want a little more than that, including a more substantial breakfast, I’d recommend trying somewhere else.
