We stayed there “By mistake” due to hubby’s inexperience with booking.com, but serious familiarity with Victoria, Canada. Glorious mistake! We had a ground floor king suite of antiques and fully functional tv and wifi; one’s writing table area, you know, as one expects, doesn’t one; gorgeous stained glass; lovely bedding and towels – even a rubber ducky (froggy) for the bath. Douglas is a warm and attentive host, the garden is small, surrounding the parking, but so beautiful I sent a photo home. Whose driveway has flowers like that? Wrap- around porch that would be a dream to lounge on if I had had the time. Breakfast was more than I could handle, delish baked pear, and smoked salmon scrambled eggs. There was some kind of vegetable on offer, too, but not quite my usual morning fare. We walked over to see the cruise ships sail, we walked over to Fishermans’ Wharf to see the floating homes and artisans and otters, we took a water taxi (cheat!) to get to the main side of the inner harbour, which is otherwise totally walkable unless you are a wimp like me. Walked back very easily. Tasty fish and chips two blocks away, Finest at Sea. Go early, they run out of stuff!
