Westin Bear Mountain Victoria

I regret to have not written my review before now but here it is, in all it’s glory. My daughter worked with the staff for four months planning a surprise one night stay in the PENTHOUSE suite and it was worth every minute of planning and every penny she spent.

Walking into the suite left me speechless! This suite is very well appointed and offers everything you need before you know you need it. It was very tastefully decorated, spacious and incredibly comfortable. The floor to ceiling windows were phenomenal. I truly cannot say enough about this suite, we had a hard time leaving when it came time to check out.

The staff were amazing before, during and after our stay. With the assistance of the resort staff, my daughter and her friends, my daughter planned and executed a ‘traditional family Christmas’ dinner for me. We comfortably cooked and hosted a full sit down dinner, for ten, in the dining room.

The surroundings are breathtaking and there is a lot to see if you wish to explore. Although we didn’t use it, there was also an outdoor skating rink and skates which your could borrow.

We enjoyed spending some time in the lobby bar, during happy hour, a lot of great options for food and beverages.

My daughter also surprised me with the gift of the two hour “Coast to Cloud” spa treatment at the Sante Spa, on the bottom floor of the resort. We enjoyed a glorious treatment for two in their Crystal Room

I doubt that we can ever top this visit but, I assure you, it won’t be our last visit!!

On first arrival the hotel appeared beautiful. Quiet setting and opportunity to relax. Check in was quick and Sarah informed us that we had received an upgrade. We were grateful for this but surprised at check out that when I checked the final billing we had been charged for the upgrade. The bill is not presented on checkout, but rather they ask if it could be emailed. I had asked for the printout as I needed to make sure all our meals had been charged for. Had I not asked for the bill I would have gotten a shock on checking it when I got home.

The room was spacious and well decorated. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable. It was soft and lumpy and the sheets were too short for the bed, this meant that every time I got into bed my feet touched the mattress. By far the most uncomfortable bed I have had to sleep in.
Housekeeping was different everyday. Some days the cups were replaced, other days they neatened the bathroom.
I like that they think green, however, would recommend only placing one set of towels in the room per person, we had towels for four people.

We ate most meals at the restaurants at the hotel. Service started off good but once the weekend arrived service all but disappeared. The server forgot to bring water after we ordered it with our coffee and food took awhile.

Villa Marco Polo Bed and Breakfast Inn

Our room was exceptional-huge, comfortable, filled with amenities that we could not have imagined such as an in-room fireplace, several sitting areas and an incredible bathroom. We have stayed in many B&Bs but Villa Marco Polo was an incredibly beautiful home in a lovely residential area. The public spaces are gorgeous and our hosts Diana and Alex were warm and welcoming and more than willing to orient us to the local area. Their restaurant suggestions were perfect as well. If we return to Victoria, we will definitely stay here. The only “downside” for a traveler unfamiliar with the island is that the main tourist sights are a drive or bus ride away. This was not a problem for us as we had a car.

We traveled to Victoria via ferry for our 30th wedding anniversary, We wanted to get acquainted with a residential neighborhood outside of the Empress-Parliament area we knew very well from previous trips. Villa Marco Polo was an exceptional place to stay — it reminded us of all the reasons why we used to stay in B and B lodgings rather than hotels. The managers, Diana and Alex, were so welcoming and informative — they gave us great tips about places to eat in both Oak Bay and downtown Victoria, information about the history of the Villa Marco Polo, the First Night celebration dowtown on New Years’ Eve, and oriented us to our location and nearby attractions. Alex even, unasked, gave us information on how to get to Saltspring Island. Our room, the Persia Room, actually was three rooms in one: the bedroom, a large windowed room with a soaking tub on a platform, and a large bathroom with a good sized shower. There was a walk in closet, with built in cabinet as well. Parking in the beautiful neighborhood was free. Also included in the room price was a 4 course gourmet breakfast that Diana cooked and Alex served in the L’Orangerie sunroom. The house also includes a beautifully-appointed library, with availability of port and teas, and a gorgeous backyard with a fountain and statuary. We were totally content and felt very well cared for.

Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour

The Marriott Inner Harbour is a great place to stay for a Victoria vacation. Well situated near the heart of the City making it very easy to walk downtown Victoria. The hotel itself is very clean and modern with spacious rooms. Staff are very friendly and professional.

Very well located hotel for downtown activities and meetings. Room decor was very traditional — an odd contrast with the building exterior. Superlative breakfast team; attentive at the buffet and poured me a coffee to go. Ditto re: excellent front desk team. In-room coffee availability was appreciated, however I would have appreciated seeing some of the excellent local roasteries featured.
We stayed here for a Friday night/Saturday night week-end and will definitely stay here again on a future visit. The location is excellent – right near the inner harbour and close to the BC Museum and other attractions. We just reserved a basic room with one bed, but it was very spacious and well-appointed, including a desk, armchair, fridge, bathrobes, coffee-maker, safe, etc.. They have good rates for seniors so it was really excellent value, and the whole place was very pleasant. The underground parking lot is well-lit and easy to get to, and unlike some parking lots, the spots are a decent size and the price reasonable enough. The staff were all pleasant and helpful.

Swans Hotel Victoria

We stayed one night, we don’t live far but wanted to have a night away from home. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. It has a great location. We have no complaints. We will stay again.
The Swans is a lovely old hotel with lots of character. The rooms are decorated with interesting art. The location is close to the bridge and within walking distance of the down town area and many restaurants. The Swans Brew Pub has an excellent menu and the food is good. The beds were very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Strathcona Hotel Victoria

I would say that the best part about this hotel was its location-right in the middle of downtown. Other than that, I would probably never stay there again. Our room was pretty gross, as it seemed like it had never been cleaned. During your stay, nobody will clean your room. They will give you some new water glasses, but that’s about it! I would not recommend staying here during breaks (Spring break, summer vacation, etc) because it will be extremely LOUD. The walls are paper thin and we could hear our neighbors until 3 am-it would be 100 times worse when there are a ton of college kids partying it up in the bar attached to the hotel. This place is fine as long as you don’t spend too much time in the hotel!

We stayed two nights at this centrally located older hotel. The front desk staff are very efficient and friendly. The daily continental breakfast which is included in the price of the room, is a great way to start your day. They serve waffles, muffins, toast, cereal, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruits, juice and tea/coffee. We stayed on the 5th floor, our room was a bit worn. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The TV is a nice size, and we enjoyed the complimentary herbal teas.

Sandman Hotel Victoria

Stayed here our two nights in Victoria. Easy to get to. Good value for the price. Ample parking. Pub on site. Laundry on site. Large clean room. 5 minutes from downtown. What you expect from a chain…

Pros:
– extremely well priced
– fantastic sandman service
– the usual fantastic shark below below
– functional gym in the basement to get the sweat going
– super comfy bed
– fully stocked vending machines on every level
– coin washers and dryers in the basement

Cons:
– no bar fridge or microwaves in the queen rooms

Nice central location with a restaurant/pub on site. The shark club was good pub type food. The inly thing I think is a little crazy I’d the hotel fitness center isn’t open until 8am. I’ve never stayed in a hotel that doesn’t have 24 hour or at least 5-6am gym times. I was here on business and 8am is not a good time to start a daily workout for working folks!!

Royal Scot Hotel Victoria

The Royal Scot hotel is one block from the Provincial Parliament building. The location is walkable to many tourist attractions and activities; such as Fisherman’s Wharf, Museum, Shopping, Eating and the list goes on. The Royal Scot Hotel and Suites offers full kitchens and the grocery story is about seven walkable blocks away. Hope to one day return to Victoria. Style is definitely 1960’s décor but quality furniture. Staff were very helpful and the hotel was very clean.

No wonder my family keeps coming back. This is a top notch hotel. Very clean. Prices are very good and the location is the best. The restaurant has amazing food for the price. I recommend this hotel and will be back

Red Lion Inn Victoria

This is not a luxury one, but nice to stay. It is little off from downtown Victoria. You need a car or taxi to get to downtown. Outside looks old and building is shared with Liquor store, but inside is fairly clean.

I have stayed at this location several times and it has always been clean and consistent. We go over every april for an annual soccer tournament and its our first choice. It is a little outside of downtown so you require a car or to use public transit in order to get there.

Only one outlet free to plug anything into, 2 out of the 4 lights not working, one bed broken completely (sit on one side, the other side flips up into the air), streaks of who knows what (I think I can probably guess) running down the walls behind the bed, toilet seat broken (keeps slipping off the bowl), moldy shower, no glass glasses (had to drink wine out of a paper cup). I wonder if it’s possible to give a 0 out of 5 stars on google. The upgraded room and the restaurant voucher (which I had to demand receipt of) just don’t make up for the disastrous establishment they call a hotel.

Regent Hotel Victoria

Great apartment, friendly helpful staff, walking distance to everything from shopping to wonderful restaurants and pubs. The waterfront view is excellent with Parliament buildings lit up at night and kayaks and float planes landing in the morning.

We stayed for 2 nights in a 1 bedroom suite on 5th floor overlooking the harbor. Very nice, spacious, clean and awesome views. Full kitchen if you need but we just used the coffee pot. Complementary breakfast is OK nothing special , basic cereals, breads, omellete and breakfast meat. Hotel is in walking distance to everything and very central. Staff were very helpful in recommendations of eating, shopping etc. We used underground parking which was very handy. Yes I would stay again

This is our second year in the hotel. Enjoyed it very much.. Will be returning next year. View is awesome. Close to all services. Always working on upgrades i.e new windows, new carpet. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Ramada Victoria

This is a good clean budget hotels with decent beds with a good rates. There is a decent restaurant on site for those who do not want to leave the hotel. When you are looking for the hotel when coming from downtown you have to look closely for the entrance?

So here I am in town on a contract staying at this place.
1st night there’s drunks banging around smoking pot and talking SUPER LOUD.
I call the desk and get a oh. Ah. Gee ok I’ll see what I can do. – They did nothing.

2nd night the same. Tge 4th night my room filled with Pot smoke snd finally they fined them but they still got to stay!

Now my contracts 2 months. The cleaning people stack towels on ypur laundry. They don’t vacum the room or take out the garbage.

The rooms gave sliding patio doors so as soon as it’s 3 AM one of the drunk pot smoking guests decides to get high or smoke in the room .. sooo they use that sliding door and it rumbles your room like a thunder storm. This happens nightly – IT’S INSANE!

Located approximately three kilometres from downtown Victoria . Guests  can enjoy the seasonal heated outdoor pool, meeting facilities, business centre and fitness centre, as well as a beer and wine store , and complimentary large vehicle parking. Guest room amenities include refrigerator and microwave. Suites with full kitchen and sofa bed and rooms with balconies are also available.
