Review of English Inn Victoria Esquimalt

My husband and I stayed here recently and found the Inn to be a well restored old home with very welcoming staff who were happy to help with advice or directions. Great spot in Victoria away from downtown so nice & quiet but still a good walking distance around the bay. We would have liked breakfast earlier so we could get out to explore but that didn’t hold us up too much. We would stay again!

Review of English Inn Victoria Esquimalt

The best part of a visit to Victoria is the “Olde English” feel of much of the town. The English inn is a perfect way to get the full experience as it is a beautiful turn of the century mansion with dozens of period themed rooms. the grounds are beautiful and we found ourselves spending free time at the inn it was so inviting. The value is extremely high for the quality of the inn. The staff is top notch. The only draw back is it is not walking distance to the harbor, but if you have transportation you would be crazy to stay anyplace else

Review of English Inn Victoria Esquimalt

It is a step back in time with some lovely features: wood paneling, stained glass windows, cozy rooms, narrow staircases, and a strong sense of history. The grounds were beautiful, with many flowers in bloom, but also wild in areas. As other reviewers have noted, it is a lot of area to maintain. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. They did have musical guests, but most events ended by 9:30 pm. We were on the top floor and although the birds start up early, we weren’t bothered by the chirps and caws. It is helpful to view the little idiosyncrasies charming, rather than irritating. It’s good to have a car to get to the downtown area. We would stay again.

about 10 min drive to downtown Victoria, but just half a block from a water-front park where lots of boats go out for fishing. nice quiet area.
close to water and park, beautiful building, great classic detailing on the woodwork, comfortable bed, soaker tub, deck to sit on and admire the view, beautiful leaded glass and glass work, friendly staff, simple breakfast, crescants, yogurt, juice, fruit, tea and coffee, but the crescants are huge and baked in house fresh each day.

Pros: Almost everything
Cons: As it’s a Victorian location not much can be changed
Location: Not much around but did not look for anything else than going to downtown victoria
This was a great place to stay . Close enough to downtown Victoria by car. The people working there couldn’t do enough to make the stay pleasant. Old establishment very clean and refined but not snobbish. A great place to relax I’m so glad we didn’t stay in Victoria No elevators but they offered to take our luggage up as we were on third floor Nice walking pats around the place with beautiful layouts showing off the place and it’s history

Review of English Inn Victoria Esquimalt

My daughter and I arrived late in the evening. We had called ahead to advise them of this, and a super friendly staff member (sorry I can’t remember her name) was there to welcome us, check us in and help us with our luggage. Our room was beautiful and so comfortable. Our only regret was that we were basically just there to sleep because we had to leave by eight thirty. We would have loved to have explored the the hotel more and experience the breakfast in the morning. We would absolutely stay here again.

Review of English Inn Victoria Esquimalt

I got a good price so booked without researching very much. I knew it had parking and was within driving distance of everything I wanted to do.
Upon arriving I was shocked at how beautiful the grounds were. And I am here in December! I can only imagine in summer.
The Inn itself was also beautiful. It an old building so if you’re expecting your normal cookie cutter hotel room this is not for you. I however loved the charm and feel of the entire place.
My room was perfect. Clean, great toiletry product line, comfortable bed, everything one expects.
The staff were all excellent and friendly. Very welcoming. I really felt this contributed to how ‘at home’ I felt there. I ended up staying there my entire trip.
The only thing I would note is that the wifi does not work very well in some of the upper rooms of the Inn. It does work very well and is extremely fast in the lobby and foyer. I just took my laptop down and sat on one of the couches when I needed an internet connection.
I cannot wait until I can return to this home away from home

English Inn Victoria Amenities

A picturesque English Manor only a short three mile drive (or an 8 minute walk to the water taxi) to downtown Victoria, this property is exceptional. Forget the stuffy contemporary hotels, the English Inn has charm, spacious rooms, exceptional service and the most beautiful gardens surrounding the property. And I do mean surrounding! A large property where you can escape and enjoy prestine gardens English charm. The morning complimentary breakfast room overlooks the gardens as well. The rooms each have their own character and personality, and I highly recommend looking through the website to see which room you meets your expectations. Our room had a canopy bed, fireplace, sitting area, and a balcony overlooking the gardens. The only negative is that their is no elevator, so you will need to carry your luggage up the one flight of stairs. English charm only minutes from town….it’s not to be missed.
